The best hair care routine
I’ve always been good to my hair (until recently I’d not even coloured it) however, I’ve always struggled to find the perfect hair routine (probably because I never really HAD to take care of it the way I do now).
My scalp, in general, is sensitive and super reactive to almost every shampoo I’ve tried and occasionally I get stress-related psoriasis (which always seems to be worse in the winter months). So, as you can imagine, finding a shampoo that is gentle enough to not irritate my scalp or leave my hair limp and lack-lustre but serious enough to condition and strengthen it, was a real challenge.
In 2018, I first was introduced to this brand by a friend when working in the beauty industry…and I’ve been using it ever since.
If you are looking to add something special to your haircare or if your hair is in a bad place and needs seriously luxury TLC then Leonor Greyl Paris is where you should start.
If you haven’t heard about Leonor Greyl, the story begins in the late 1960s. When Leonor and his wife, Jean-Marie created a natural and plant-based haircare range. Though this concept seems far from revolutionary to you and I now, at the time it was the first of its kind. Leonor Greyl has gone on to create groundbreaking formulas to treat the scalp and not just the hair. That’s what got my attention, I needed something to help treat and protect my scalp. Bain Traitant à la Propolis was the first-ever daily anti-dandruff hair care product (and I use it as my everyday shampoo). The Huile de Germe de Blé was the first oil to ever treat the scalp and wash it simultaneously by foaming in contact with water.

So what do I use and how do I use it?
The Huile de Germe de Blé oil is a CULT product and can make anyone’s hair unbelievably shiny - I tend to only use it through the winter months as that’s when I need the deepest treatments (a word of caution: too much of this stuff and your hair might end up resembling one of the T-birds from Grease) Less is definitely more!
My everyday shampoo is Bain Traitant à la Propolis which is made without tar and other harsh ingredients. It’s gentle enough not to leave my sensitive scalp irritated and itchy, but effective enough to keep the oil at bay.
For conditioner//mask I use Masque Fleurs de Jasmin for fine hair, it is rich in amino acids, proteins and botanical oils. I find its much lighter than usual masks and it doesn’t way my hair down - it gives my hair so much bounce and life.
To finish off I use Leonors hero product (in my opinion.) It can go on damp or dry hair and it is hydrating, smoothing and conditioning all in one! It’s the Serum de Soie Sublimateur and it is fabulous!
Let’s not ignore the elephant in the room, Leonor Greyl products are pricey. However, for me they are irreplaceable. They have brought my hair back to life, hairdressers even comment on the condition of my hair now. Plus, it’s French and looks oh so chic in the bathroom!
Next thing on my to-do list is the visit the treatment salon in London - if its as luxurious and effective as the products, then I’ve no doubt it will be like the worlds best facial for my scalp.
