Spring has Sprung
Spring/Summer is my favourite time of year! It’s when I feel the most productive and positive. I always look forward to the long Summer evenings and bright mornings, everything looks beautiful in the sunshine (even the usually grey city skyline)
Each year as spring comes around I begin to feel more energised and motivated and this is the time of year for a personal spring clean. I strip everything back and focus on living in the moment and enjoying time with family and friends.
This bank holiday marked the beginning of the Summer season for me. We had the first barbecue of the year, the first (of many) Pimm’s and the first of the summer makeup.
My makeup in the Summer is always the same! (I keep my experimenting for the winter)
I always include an SPF, I switch to cream products, and I wear one eyeshadow pallet on repeat.
Firstly, SPF.(Sun Protection Factor) I would be a hypocrite if I said that I wear spf everyday, even though I know I should, but in the Summer I really make the effort to wear it daily. The easiest way to do that for me is to have it included in my Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser, but you can get SPF primers if you change your foundations or tinted moisturisers often.
Then, every Spring/Summer without fail, I switch out my usual bronzer cocktail for the Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel. It is great. It’s a cult product and it’s no surprise why, it’s creamy but doesn’t melt off the skin, it’s matte so it can work all over the face, it’s so easy to use and it smells summery and fresh whilst being all wrapped up in a luxe oversized, over indulgent glass jar that sits proudly on your dressing table. It’s a shame it only comes in one shade, hopefully this is something that Chanel are working on changing because this is a beautiful product that everyone should be able to indulge in.
I wear my Chanel bronzer all over and then use Mac cream colour base in Hush as a blush/highlighter and sometimes as an eyeshadow.
I like to use Nars soft matte concealer because it offers a little more coverage in the areas that need them without having to apply a full coverage foundation or powder.
I use the Kevyn Aucoin volume mascara and I think this is SO underrated! It uses tubing technology so it doesn’t smudge or melt off in the heat which is ideal when the weather starts getting warmer and it comes off with warm water and a micro fibre cloth. Easy as that.
If I need a little something extra that day I’ll apply a light blusher like the By Terry Expert Dual compact and some eyeshadow. The Exager-Eyes eyeshadow pallet by Charlotte Tilbury is perfect, the colours are ideal for a summer bronzed eye and compliment every eye colour.
I always carry a Lanolips tinted SPF balm for my lips and top-ups and a powder compact for extra oily nose situations.
And. That. Is. It.

My favourite summer fragrance is Tom Ford Soleil Blanc.
Favourite sun lotion is Institute Esthederm strong sun protection.
A quick tip for making your makeup look glam without it melting off your skin is to apply individual lashes. They always look glam and pretty, but are glued on for the day and don’t need topping up or re applying.
